Diabetic patients are at increased risk for Cardiovascular Diseases and cerebrovascular illnesses. Dyslipidemia is definitely one of the risk factors for Cardiovascular Diseases. In this cross sectional study, the objectives were to assess dyslipidemia among diabetic children and ascertain its’ association with certain personal and disease characteristics. The 355 diabetic children were sampled from the attendees of the four endocrine centers available in Baghdad. During the time from 25th of August 2019 to 13th of January 2020.The mean agewas9.5---PlusMinusSymbol---4.3 years old, male to female ratio was 1:1.1. Poor glycemic control represented in high HbA1c was the commonest characteristic in 76.9% of diabetic children. Eighty percent of the participants had dyslipidemia, and the more prominent feature was hyperglyceridemia followed by low HDL-c. The lipid ratios and atherogenic indices were high in almost all of diabetic children. Which indicates thatmost Iraqi diabetic children are at increased risk for future development of cardiovascular diseases. This requires simple alternative measures to improve the outcome like education programs for diabetic children and their families for best possible glycemic control? As well as, to boost their awareness about the hazards of dyslipidemia and its serious consequences.
<AbstractLanguage>English</AbstractLanguage> <Keywords>Dyslipidemia, Diabetes mellitus, Children, Baghdad</Keywords> <URLs>
https://developer.ubipayroll.com/ubijournal-v1copy/journals/abstract.php?article_id=13130&title=Dyslipidemia among Diabetic Children in Baghdad
</URLs> <References> <ReferencesarticleTitle>References</ReferencesarticleTitle> <ReferencesfirstPage>16</ReferencesfirstPage> <ReferenceslastPage>19</ReferenceslastPage> <References>1.
